There’s enough liquidation-talk and contempt-for-rights-talk in Leftism that I don’t see this argument to be as convincing as you do. That, and insufficient distance from Stalin (recognition that Stalin personally was terrible isn’t enough).

First: I’ll repeat what ponydicks said in the previous thread on this topic:

Second: At best, your good intentions get you reviled in a different way, but still deserved to be equally reviled. One negligent homicide is understandable at national scales. A million negligent homicides starts to look deliberate. Another million negligent homicides, and then another million, and then the millions just keep piling up, densely and rapidly - to paraphrase Clarke, sufficiently advanced incompetence is indistinguishable from malice.

Bold mine. Sounds like the nazis were, at the start, similarly willing as your leftists (ie. commies) to not mass murder, and then resorted to mass murder anyway because the world did not conveniently line up to give them everything they wanted on a silver platter.

The beliefs that Communists hold about why things aren’t the way they want, and the beliefs Nazis hold, are fucking identical except that Nazis also add the label “is Jewish” to their hallucinations of The Bad People With Infinite Agency Keeping Us Down And Who We Can Kill To Make Everything Perfect. Guess what? Nazis do not have an accurate worldview except for the fact that they add the label “is Jewish” to that group!

But unlike Nazis, the fucking Communists have inexhaustible, invincible social power and all of their actions are excused and they get to keep being fractally terrible, every one of them making life just that much less tolerable. You get to be so fucking inassailable that you get to be insufferably smug about how stupid people are for not adhering to your extremist ideology that resulted in mass misery and mass murder every single time. Step back and think of how absurd that is, objectively! “Look at this fucking idiot, doesn’t he know that we obviously won’t get everyone killed this time, even though every other time we said this we got everyone killed?” No other ideology gets to do that, and here you are, saying it’s unfair that it doesn’t instantly work on everyone!
